Presentation
Spill response best management practices for aquaculture sites
DescriptionAs efforts to increase aquaculture in US coastal waters expands there are increasing risks of oil spills potentially affecting aquaculture sites. While state and federal agencies have protocols in place for closing down the harvesting of shellfish, seafood, and aquaculture following an oil or chemical spill, there is minimal information available on response planning and clean-up methods in shellfish and/or aquaculture areas. This session includes case studies, research, and a discussion on planning response practices to mitigate damage to aquaculture products following an oil or chemical spill.
