Elizabeth Petras
Biography
Elizabeth was hired as the Executive Director of the Interagency Coordinating Committee on Oil Pollution Research, ICCOPR, in April 2023. ICCOPR was established in OPA 90 to coordinate a comprehensive program of research among 16 federal agencies in partnership with industry, universities, research institutions, states and other nations to foster partnerships and cost-effective research.

Prior to this, Elizabeth was the Natural Resources Program Manager for USCG working in the Office of Environmental Management. She provided expertise to the USCG in environmental compliance and biological resources, training in environmental laws, and policy analysis at a national level.

She was the USCG RRT coordinator for Region 10 and served as an environmental protection specialist for District 13. She’s a long-time member of the National Response Team Environmental Compliance subcommittee, providing training and guidance documents for the NRT.

Prior to joining the USCG, Elizabeth was a marine ecologist and policy analyst for the National Marine Fisheries Services for over13 years. While at NMFS, she was part of the NOAA response to Deepwater Horizon, which was her introduction to the response community.
