Hugo Nijkamp is a marine biologist by training starting his career in 1990. As a consultant he was involved in numerous marine management and policy development projects. Since 1999 he has been the driving force behind Sea Alarm. Sea Alarm works with wildlife response organisations, scientists, environmental NGOs, oil and shipping industries, and governmental bodies at national, regional and global levels. He chairs the Baltic Expert Working Group on Oiled Wildlife Response.
