David has 50 years research experience, focusing on oil spills in ice. He managed/participated in ten large-scale experimental field spills, 1974 - 2016 in Canada and Norway. David was a member of the 2014 National Research Council committee preparing "Responding to Oil Spills in Arctic Environments". From 2012 to 2017, he participated in the most comprehensive joint Industry projects ever conducted on Arctic spill response. In 2015/17 he co-authored a "Guide to Oil Spill Response in Snow and Ice" for the Arctic Council and IMO. David has a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
