Biography
Bassey Okon Bassey is a PhD Researcher in Energy and Sustainability at Cranfield University, Cranfield, United Kingdom. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the World Bank - Africa Center of Excellence in Oilfield Chemicals Research, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He was previously an Assistant Lecturer at Coventry University, UK, upon graduation there with an MSc in Petroleum and Environmental Technology. He had worked as an Operations/Research Engineer for Northwest Petroleum and Gas Company Limited, Calabar, Nigeria, for five years; during which he was responsible for process safety, loss prevention and oil spill control in cargo transfer operations, maintenance, storage and plant upgrade activities. Bassey also holds a BEng in Petroleum Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He is an active member of the ISCO, Energy Institute, NACE, CIWEM, ASCE, IMarEST, SPE and several other international professional societies. With over 30 technical papers to his credit; his research interests revolve around oil spill prevention, oil spill modelling, wastewater treatment, asset integrity and flow assurance.
