DESCRIPTION:Paper\n\nMark Robinson (TRC Companies) and John Bradley (Rapid
  Response Systems)\n\n341: This paper describes the evolution and applicat
 ion of visualization technologies for spill planning and response over the
  past five years.  Specifically, the three following technological advance
 ments are discussed and illustrated by projects and spill responses with h
 igh-level lessons learned and the cautions industries and responders shoul
 d know: \n\n1.	2018 – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photography was utiliz
 ed for capturing details of static assets in oil spill planning, such as b
 oom tie-offs and staging areas.  However, challenges were encountered with
  large file sizes and internet portal stress, impacting cellular networks 
 and devices. \n\n2.	2019 to 2022 – Visualization platforms witnessed notab
 le advancements, allowing live-streaming the Incident Command (IC) dashboa
 rds.\n \n3.	2023 – Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation platforms p
 rovided dramatic improvements, enabling: \n\n•	Efficient content discovery
 , extracting valuable information from written plans, geographic response 
 plans, and tailored surveys/questionnaires. \n\n•	Providing content and di
 rection to responders and agencies in multiple languages. \n\n•	Automated 
 form completion reduced labor costs and optimized resources for planning a
 nd training activities.\n \nIn conclusion, the advancements in visualizati
 on technologies, including the integration of low-latency networks, have e
 nhanced response decision-making, collaboration, and environmental protect
 ion measures.  By capitalizing on the lessons learned and embracing emergi
 ng technologies such as AI, the industry can further advance its spill res
